Woking Choral Society Choral Scholarship

What: Open to applications from all voice parts; best suited to early career, undergraduate or recent graduate singers. Recent applicants have gone on to some fabulous work with London pro choirs and as teachers and conductors in their own right. This is a lovely and supportive choir!

Deadline: 10 September (but applications still invited after this date)

Fee: Modest fee, solo opportunities and conducting mentoring for the right candidates.

Join Christ Church Southgate as a Choral Scholar

What: The Choir of Christ Church Southgate is currently seeking three talented young singers to join its Adult Choir as Choral Scholars.

What We Offer: A scholarship of £1,500 p.a.
Weekly singing commitments at Choral Eucharist and Evensong with a diverse and challenging repertoire
The opportunity to perform solo recitals and take part in an annual concert with professional orchestra
Fully funded travel and accommodation for choir tours, with upcoming trips including Rome, Florence, Wells Cathedral, York Minster, and Norwich Cathedral

Where Can It Lead? Our recent scholars have gone on to study at prestigious institutions such as the Royal College of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, and have secured choral scholarships at Oxford (Keble, Merton, and The Queen's College), Cambridge (Emmanuel and Robinson), and Royal Holloway Chapel Choir.

Choral Scholarships at St David’s Cathedral 2026-27

What: St David’s Cathedral Choir is currently advertising vacancies for one Alto, one Tenor and one Bass Choral Scholar afrom September 2026 for the duration of the 2026-27 academic year. Scholarships include generous remuneration (£4,000 p.a. choral), rent-free shared accommodation in the ancient Cathedral Close and music lesson allowance including travel, opportunities to perform in services, concerts and on BBC Radio, and the opportunity to live on the beautiful Pembrokeshire Peninsula in Britain’s smallest city with a strong community feel.

Past scholars have gone to study music and singing at RWCMD, Cambridge, Bristol and London Universities, or been appointed to further scholarship or professional positions at Hereford, Gloucester, Southwell, Ely, Lincoln, Exeter, Truro and Edinburgh Cathedrals.

The scholarships are open to people of any gender, and would be ideal for those seeking a gap-year before university, or final year university students assessing their options following graduation.

London Cathedral Tenor Lay Clerk vacancy

What: A vacancy has arisen for one Tenor Lay Clerk to join the group of eight regular Lay Clerks at St George's Roman Catholic Cathedral, starting November 2025 or soon after.

Solemn Mass is sung each Sunday at 12pm by the Choristers (mixed) and Lay Clerks, preceded by a 10.40am rehearsal during school term time. For extra services (including all Solemnities), the Lay Clerks function are joined by professional adult sopranos. These are usually during the week with a 5pm rehearsal and 6pm service. At Solemn Mass, there is a predominance of Latin motets and Mass settings, with Gregorian chant propers.

Join The Choir of the 21st Century

What: September marks the turn of the music year and the start of a new singing season!  If you are looking for a London choir, why not consider CC21 - aka The Choir of the 21st Century?!

Join us on 4 October for a Come & Sing experience and a taster of the sort of repertoire we sing.  

CC21 has vacancies in all voice parts.  We are a friendly project chamber choir singing four times a year with rehearsals in the preceding two weeks to accommodate people’s other commitments.

Come and Sing with Bob Chilcott, Saturday 4th October

What: Internationally renowned composer, singer and director Bob Chilcott is coming to give a workshop at Holy Sepulchre, EC1A 2DQ. It will be a perfect day out for amateur singers, with a combination of Bob's better and lesser-known choral works.

Hadfield Composition Competition (Jesus College, Cambridge)

What: This year’s competition is for a new Christmas carol to be performed at Jesus College, Cambridge (and possibly recorded in due course) and will be judged by Director of Music, Benjamin Sheen, and composer Cecilia McDowall.

Come and Sing Choral Evensong with David Hill MBE, Wednesday 19th November

What: St. Cecilia is one of highlights of the year at the Musicians' Church. Come and join our professional choir, directed on this occasion by renowned conductor David Hill, to sing Dyson's glorious Evening Service in D. The service will also feature a new commission by composer and organist, Will Mason.

Pimlico Musical Foundation Chorus

When: Wednesday evenings during term-time (7pm to 9pm)

Where: St Gabriel's Church, Pimlico

What: New members are warmly invited to join the Pimlico Chorus.
No auditions, and it isn’t essential to attend every week.
